Stereo

The „Stereo“. This design gets its name from the division of the soundhole into two halves. The fingerboard spans two full octaves (24 frets) or even more upon request. The top can be either a double-top or a traditional design.
The instrument pictured was built in 2006 as part of my diploma project; it is certainly the most elaborate and ornate instrument I have ever built. It also features a reinforcing wooden structure inside the body, which counteracts deformation caused by string tension. This body stiffening, combined with the added mass, results in a very rich and sustained tone, reminiscent of a piano.
